                F
 1. There is a world inside the world that you see
               F Bbmaj7
And it's okay to count the minutes, 'cause how many could there be?
            F Eb
And if love is all around us... how could this have found us?
         Bb
The move you know is Don't let go of me.

 2. Let's call her Halcyon and hope that she holds
'Cause every shore she's gonna touch is gonna turn to solid gold
She and I've been wishin'... for a change in our condition
It's not given, but it's obvious to me.

                F C7
There is a world inside the world...
                Dm Bb

 3. There is a world inside the world that you see
I read it in Delillo... like they'd written it to me
And if love is all we're made of... then what am I afraid of?
Just 'cause freedom rings, it doesn't mean we're free.

                F C7
There is a world inside the world...
                Dm Bb
There is a world inside the world...
                F C7
There is a world inside the world...
                Dm Bb
There is a world inside the world...
                F C7 Bb Bbadd#4 Bbadd5 x3 F
There is a world inside the world... that you see.

Editor's notes:

CHORDS: Rhett Miller says that he generally (always?) tunes his guitar down a whole step. He's probably doing so here, and playing as if in G, which would sound in F. Alternately, one could play the song as if in E, capo-ed up one to sound in F (or not). One could also play it as if in D, capo-ed up three to F, if desired.

JimR and WA play this song straight in F. Jim plays barre chords for the verses and first-position F, C7, Dm, and Bb for the refrain parts. WA tunes his low E string up a half-step to F, and plays the following inversions fingerstyle (with flatpick and three fingers):

                F 08756x
 1. There is a world inside the world that you see
               F Bbmaj7 xx8765
And it's okay to count the minutes, 'cause how many could there be?
            F x8756x Eb x6534x
And if love is all around us... how could this have found us?
         Bb/d x5333x /c Bb/bb x1333x
The move you know is Don't let go of me.

                F 08756x C7 x3535x
There is a world inside the world...
                Dm x5776x Bb/d x5333x /c Bb/bb x1333x
There is a world inside the world...
                F C7 Bb xx87xx Bbadd#4 xx89xx Bbadd5 xx810xx
There is a world inside the world... that you see.

Signature lick: Played as intro, between verses, and as outro. It's based on the IV chord, which is Bb in the key of F. The best way I can think of to play it is as follows. It may be best to pluck it, so as to avoid hitting any of the way-out-of-bounds open strings.

        Bb add#4 add5 (or) Bb add#4 add5
    1 ------------------------6----6----6----------
    2 --3----5----6-----------3----5----6------------
    3 --3----3----3-----------3----5----6-----------
    4 --3----3----3-----------3----5----6------------
    5 ---------------------------------------------
    6 -----------------------------------------------

With his tuned-down-a-whole-step guitar, Rhett is probably playing the much fuller-sounding:

        C add#4 add5
    1 --0----2----3------------------------
    2 --1----1----1--------------------------
    3 --0----0----0--------------------------
    4 --2----2----2--------------------------
    5 --3----3----3-------------------------
    6 ------------------------------------
Instrumental break: One verse, between verses 2 and 3. Play it on a Wurlitzer. WA plays through the melody with an F (very high) harmonica.
